1829 Stone Mill / Milford Oyster House
Across the Delaware River from Upper Black Eddy, Pa. in Milford, N.J. Cross the river on Bridge Street, Turn left on NJ 519/Water St. Go several blocks north to the old mill on the right at 92 Water Street.
The 40'X45' main mill structure is constructed of Bucks County fieldstone.
The 2.5 story mill, built in 1829, has several additions, perhaps since being altered for use as a restaurant.
A large parking lot in the rear, with entry on both side of the mill off Water St./NJ 519 and also entry from the rear into the parking lot from Mill Street.
The bridge over Hakihokake Creek, the original power source for the grist mill, was built in 1933 and will need some work soon. The plaque in the end of the bridge denotes the Hunterdon County Board of Freeholders, Engineers, and Contractors for the bridge construction in 1933.
The mill is now the Milford Oyster House, well noted for it outstanding seafood specialties. The restaurant was formerly back in downtown at 17 Bridge Street, but moved into the old mill in March, 2005. Renowned Chef, Ed Coss bought the restaurant in 1997.
