John Snyder Grist Mill ruins
On the east side of Mill Road, about 2 miles south of Slabtown, at the junction with Snyder's Bridge Road. The site is at the southeast corner near the Snyder's Covered Bridge.

Built c. 1800 by Samuel Cherrington for Nathan Lee. One day ice built up on the wheel, compelling the mill to stop. Lee placed a mass of straw about the wheel and lit it.

In less than an hour the mill burned to the ground in 1812. It was rebuilt by Jeremiah Snyder and continued to operate for many years.

W. Grant Beaver was a late owner, who used the old mill as a barn. GPS: 40' 54.20N, 76' 23.41W 883' ele. Snyder's Covered Bridge, # 38-19-04, is a 66' Burr arch bridge built in 1876.
