Herr's Mill & Forge
From west edge of Annville, take U. S. 422 1.5 miles west turning right onto the first township road to the right. Go .5 mile and turn left to Clear Spring. At Clear Spring make a right onto Syner Road, go past Clear Spring Mill for about 2 miles to mill on the left.
The mill is a 35'x55', 2.5 story frame structure with an additional white limestone foundation which makes another story.
This mill is two miles downstream from the Clear Spring mill site. That mill was torn down sometime in 2006.
The forge is obscure, but gunbarrels were manufactured here in the 1770's. The original Quittapahilla Forge, the dark structure lower right, was later called New Market Forge.
Notice the intricate eave rafters on the front of the mill, which extends to include around the sack hoist.
The view while driving west to east on Syner Road past the mill.
