This mill, built in 1901, replaced an earlier 1867 mill built either by Reuben Dellinger or Thomas Pittman. David R. Dellinger's 1901 mill, built of chestnut timbers and siding, served the communities of Hawk, Clarissa and Green Cove for many years. Longitude: 82 05.88W, Latitude: 36 01.26N.
Restoration efforts began in 1967 by the great-grandsons of Reuben Dellinger, Jack, Wayne, & Stephen. The chestnut log dam had washed out, but this was rebuilt in 1997. The second building at the site is a double-walled shed for apple storage, the space between the walls filled with dry sawdust for insulation.
