In 1885, John C. Crisman built a large four story mill, steam power plant and warehouse on Front St. in Berwick, and equipped it with modern machinery for producing flour and feed.

In 1902, his son V. R. Crisman became a partner and the firm J. C. Crisman and son continued until Oct., 1938.

The mill stood idle and the equipment disposed of. The building was converted into an apartment house. It now looks to be an antique/second hand store in 2008.
