Choptank Grist Mills / Mud Mill
: From Henderson on Sh 311 near the Maryland/Delaware state line in Caroline Co., Md, go southeast on Bee Tree Road past Henderson Community Park, then turn left on Mud Mill Road/Rd 207. Follow just across the state line, the road makes a right turn, then left turn, then curves gently to the right to the mill on the right, prior to crossing the bridge. Total of about 0.5 miles from the state line.
The Choptank Mill is a frame 2.5 story structure with some additions on two opposite sides.
The main structure is clad in steel/tin siding that resembles stone block, and is painted a golden/yellow.
The corrigated metal roofing is painted red. GPS: 39° 04.02' N 75° 44.11' W 62' elevation
The mill is on the south side of Mud Mill Road/Rd 207 near the bridge where Tanners Branch of the Choptank River leaves Mud Mill Pond. Culbreth Marsh Ditch & Tidy Island Creek drains the area from Willow Grove into Mud Mill Pond.
The miller's house on the east side of the mill. An 1868 Delaware State Atlas has a Thomas Melvin living on the other side of the bridge, the closest neighbor.
