Burkes Mill
From Gloucester, go east on Va 14 about 7 miles to Rt 602/Burkes Pond Road on the left at James Store. Turn left and go 1.1 miles to the pond on the left and the mill on the right. There is a Burkes Mill Road off of Burkes Pond Road. Stay on the Pond Road, not Burkes Mill Rd.
A three story cement block/stone block mill painted white with one story above of frame material, all painted white. Update: This pond and mill house belonged to my late Uncle Fred Mason and his wife Vera back in the 1950's until their death in the 1970's. They had no children so Fred donated the house and property to the Girl Scouts. My family vacationed there several times when I was very young and I remember boating, fishing and swimming there. I have been back several times and enjoyed seeing everything still located there and what the Girl Scouts have done. Thank you for posting these pics. This place was so special to me!!
