Bazore Mill / Yates Mill / Ely's Mill
From Circleville, go west on US 22 to Oh 138 and go south on Oh 138 until it crosses Deer Creek. The mill sits on the northwest corner of Oh 138 and Deer Creek
The mill was established in 1813 by David Yates.
The present building was built in 1849. In 1885, William Bazore bought the mill, remodeled it and implemented new milling equipment that increased the mill's production by 100%.
In 1885 a 2-story addition was constructed on the north side of the mill. The Bazore mill suffered severe damage from the 1913 flood. Subsequently, the mill was sold to John Jones.
The Jones Family operated the mill into the 1960's. The Robert Ely Family purchased the mill in 1977 and restored the building and used it as a home and antique shop.
The present wheel is not the original to the Yates Mill, but used mainly for show. The original wheel was inside the mill. Turbines were added in the 1850's.
There was a fire in the old mill in September, 2008. It still has not been completely repaired as of June, 2009. GPS: 83' 66.32W, 39' 33.34N
