The 40'X 55' 3.5 story limestone mill was built in 1798 while the miller's house was earlier in 1782. The mill history is not very evident and it's location is such that it is hard to photograph without the owners consent, which, I am given to understand is almost never given.

The mill is in great condition structurally, and along with a smaller barn and a nice stone miller's house comprise the mill complex along Spring Creek. Hain Mill was built by Peter Hain in 1798 and was actively operating in the milling industry of Berks County as a classic merchant mill until 1939.

During the late 1880's through the early 1900's, the mill was known as the Wernersville Mill, no being owned by the Hain family.

Hain Mill was once part of a larger complex that included a saw mill and perhaps a distillery, the merchant mills were larger and more substanstial, needing the extra room for grain and flour/feed storage.
