The large roller mill was built in 1839-40 by Uriah John. The Miami & Erie Canal Locks by the mill provided the head necessary to operate the processes of the mill.

The mill converted to rollers powered by electricity soon after the turn of the 20th century. Tipp City is short for Tippicanoe City. The mill was famous for many years for its"Snowball Flour".

This replica canal boat similar to the ones that used to ply their way up and down the Miami-Erie Canal, Carrying produts to and from the mill to shipping points along the way, usually with Erie on Lake Erie as the final destination of mill flours and other product for a wider distribution.

Tipp City and the Tipp City Roller Mills are the center of the annual Canal Days, as it is also for the Tipp City Mum Festival in the fall, made popular by the Spring Hill Nurseries, a leading national mail-order facility located nearby.

Today the mill is a multipurpose use building, one of which uses is a building to house musical performances and local theatrical presentations. The Tripp Players make their home and base of performing at the converted roller mill. The theater is on the main floor; consisting of a stage, auditorium seating area and a small dance floor.
