Tax lists show Joseph Painter to be a fuller and cloth dresser, who owned a fulling mill in 1795.

This former farm and mill retains the house, wooden barn, wooden corncrib and stone and frame mill.

The newer, more modern barn on the property. A fieldstone one story dairy barn with frame upper end walls and a hip roof. The barn has several stone buttresses on the roadside end for added strength.

Directions: From Chadds Ford on US 1, go north on Creek Road, about 2.4 miles to 1075 Creek Road at W Street Road/Sr 926. The mill property will be on the east side of the road. The mill sits back off the road about 100 yards.
