White Oak Mills Inc.
Just west of Pa 230/Market Street in Elizabethtown, Pa. on W. High Street. Can't be missed, a large modern milling operation.
Photo shot late at night October 1992, on a trip back from Hershey headed back to Lititz, Pa., this mill was accidentally discovered along W. High Street in Elizabethtown.
By winter 2004, the mill had undergone some enlarging in the form of part of the old mill on the right side was stripped away and many large elevators and compex storage buildings were noe connected by augers and chutes.
The complex is the White Oak Mills, Inc. There is no website to find out any info., and the only info I could find was the address at 419 W. High Street, Elizabethtown, Pa. This was from the Elizabethtown Chamber of Commerce website.
The rear of the original mill surrounded by the complex of mill buildings. There is some suspicion that the original mill may be the Conoy Feed Mill, rebuilt in 1845 on the Conoy Creek in West Donegal Township by John S. Gish, replacing an earlier 1800 mill. The new mill was a 40'X 50' 3.5 story frame structure. This mill is within several hundred feet of the Conoy Creek, but it is only 2.5 stories high. The Conoy Feed Mill was owned by Henry B. Gish from 1865 through 1899. The mill is perported to have closed in 1913.
