the water-powered Mill was built in 1797 very near the confluence of Cedar Spring Run into the North Fork of the Shenandoah River on the west edge of Strasburg.

One end of the mill was many times built of frame materials, especially the area of the water wheel attachment. Wood had more give to absorb the vibrations caused by grinding and also in case of a dust explosion, the wooden end could blow out without the mill sustaining major stone wall damage. The roof could also be replaced rather easily.

The exterior water wheel on the wooden west end. History records that the mill survived the Civil War because the Union troops used it to mill grain for their own use.

Door on the second floor, fronting to US 11. The mill was a restaurant for many years and still carries the name 'Old Mill Grill'. The first floor door on the south, long side, designates that level, at least, as the Eagles Post 4186/F.O.E. Massanutten Aerie 4186.
