Palmer was settled into the Horsham area through a William Penn land grant about 1710. He built this typical colonial mill on part of his large land grant. Frank Derr Leidy of Hatboro, died of Brights' disease, after a brief illness, at the age of 38 years in August 1901. He learned the milling business at the Fulmore Roller Flour Mills with the late John Walton, of Huntingdon valley. He worked at Patterson Roller Mills at Holland, Northampton Twp, Bucks Co. and other places for several years and then quit his trade owing to ill health.
