The Irvin Mill was built in 1822. Although no exact history can be found on the property, it is believed there may have been an earlier mill on this site. The first land grant goes back to Benjamin Bayless; and then, to Sam Wallis who deeded it to Reuben Hains in 1768. Hains sold it to George McCormick Sr. in 1805, who was known as a miller.

In 1811 McCormick sold a portion of his land to John Irvin Sr. The mill was sold by the Irvin estate in 1864. Some later owners included: D. C. Gingrich 1877-79; William Allison 1879-85; William Thomas 1885-99; and Clayton Etters 1899-1939.

The mill closed its operations in 1948. The Irvin mill built in 1822 was a large brick mill; but, after a fire in the 1800's, wood was used to rebuild the mill. About 500'-700' Easton Boalsburg Road, the same side, is a very nicely apportioned limestone house and barn.

The mill fell victim to deterioration and was saved in 1961 when it was purchased by Joseph B. Humphreys. He removed the upper stories and built the present house retaining the foundation and part of the first story. GPS: 40D 47.63'N, 77D 48.34'W ele 1,043'/318 meters State College Quadrangle
