The Old Mill Inn had been a landmark eatery for several decades until the disasterous fire in June of 1992. A fire resulted from some meat that was cooking or broiling in the oven, resulting in a five alarm fire. The interior and some of the upper, outer walls were incinerated fairly bad. This picture was taken as the mill was being renovated from the fire four months earlier.
The original mill was about a 35'X 45' fieldstone/red sandstone structure of 4 stories height with a slightly pitched roof to either side.
The sign for the renovated Old Mill Inn Restaurant. It is a restaurant only with no lodging accomodations.
The renovated mill has some of the walls lowered, because of the compromised integrity of the grout and stone, to make a renovated/remodeled mill of 3.5 stories.
It was good to see that it could be salvaged and kept as a landmark mill. GPS: 40' 16.45N, 75' 52.75W 269'/82 metersReading Quadrangle
By or before 2004, it had reopened as the Old Mill Inn. Could use some information on the milling history.
