From US 441 between Dillard and Mountain City, turn west on Wolf Fork Road and go about 2 miles. Turn left on Taylors Chapel Road and go about 0.2 mile to the mill on the right.

The mill is situated on the Pitt Branch of the Little Tennessee River which powers the 27' steel waterwheel. The water is drawn out of a pool about halfway down the 100'cascading waterfall. The 175 year old mill at Rabun Gap, near Mound City, built somewhere from 1830-1840, has operated for 165 years.

The mill was remodeled into living quarters in 1978 with additional work being done in 1985.

The beauty of the site is preserverd for your and our enjoyment; and, we want you to feel welcome. The owners have mounted this sign by the entrance to the mill/private residence. The mill has been a Bed & Breakfast since 2001, with Mike & Linda Johnson as proprietors.

The present mill wheel was installed in 1946, after being used in Tennessee since 1930.

The 27 foot was manufactured in Hanover, Pa and develops approximately 25 H.P.
