Built in 1802, the original mill used an 19' diameter water wheel to power the milling machinery.

Four runs of millstones produced flour in the 4 story brick mill built while George Washington was in office.

The mill is in excellent condition today, but the waterwheel and machinery were removed in the 1930's.

Directions: From downtown Alexandria, go west on Duke Street about 2 miles to Wheeler Ave. on the left. Turn left and go a short distance to the mill on the left at 3642 Wheeler Ave.
