Verse for Thought
"Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching."

Mill is about 40'x 50' stone/stucco grist mill of 3.5 stories in height. The site manager had frequented this area of Penna. since the early '80s, but hadn't seen this mill until October of 1992. Some mills can really be elusive. In 2011, the bridge from Tollgate Road onto Fetterman Road was out, so access was limited to only access from Pa 100 onto Fetterman Road.

Looking across some pastureland from the Clemmer Mill (06-17-07) using a 200 mm. lens on the camera. The large stone house could be the millhouse, although, so could the smaller house next to the mill which is treated to the same type of stucco finish and brown trim.

The mill is located on the Richard-Letterhouse-Stierly Property in Hereford Township, Berks County, Pa. The mill complex includes a barn, farmhouse, gristmill, summer kitchen, and a smoke house. John Frederick made pottery in the rear of the mill, which was then sold by the Wiegners. The sack hoist on the peak at the front is pictured.

*Update: I grew up on this farm as the 3rd generation of Fettermans (the main house is halfway to RT 100 from the mill). The little house to the right of the mill was the house purchased with the mill by either Leon Fetterman (my g-gf) or Charles Fetterman(my gf). I'm researching these properties and am curious about the link to Wiegner. This was previously unknown to me and very interesting. My dad always called it the Snyder mill. There is also the possibility that it was at one time called the "Klotz" mill. Edward Klotz, a miller from next-door village of Chapel (Hereford Twp) was Leon's father-in-law. It is also known that George Wiegner's widow, at the time of his death, was described as "owner of Klotz's mill in Hereford Twp". Bob Fetterman 03/22/2012*
