Undoubtedly, Ira's father Peter had owned the mill previously to 1910. He died, in that yuear, following his third stroke which left him paralysed. He had owned and operated the saw & grist mill at the head of Spring Creek for many years at the time of his death.

The mill was also equipped as a saw mill, and was used as such to build the many of the buildings in the surrounding Spring Creek area.

Some various bit of mill gearing and line shafts lay about the property, adding to the rustic appearance. The mill has been greatly improved upon since the mid-1990's. At tht time, a photo suggested an imminent collapse of the building if something wasn't done soon.

The miller's house nearby. Ira became ill in the 1930's and milling can to a standstill at that time. In addition, water levels became less, as a rule, and floods more frequent, one of which washed out some of the dam. The mill was owned by Eldon and Joyce Showalter in 1996 and a daughter and son-in-law lived on the farm. Last name of Zimmerman, but no relation to Ira Zimmerman, the former miller at the mill.
