This mill, built in the late 1700's, was called Allen's Mill and was owned by Elijah Allen. The mill is located at the junction of Sr 467 and Allen's Mill Road, which goes to Montana, or by turning left at the next junction, to Roxbourgh.

The mill was powered by water from a millpond fed by Lopatcong Creek which powered other mills, but none busier than the Allen Mill.

The photo was taken in the 1940's to 1950's of the mill after it had been converted into a residential dwelling. The stone house on the left, behind the mill and across the road, was the miller's house belonging to the Allens. Later, in the latter part of the 1800's, the home and an adjacent building were the home and business, a woolen factory, belonging to Daniel Stout.

He also servered on the State Assembly in Trenton beginning 1863 and ending in 1868. He passed away in 1893 at the age of 79.
