The original mill was built by Daniel Griffith, a millwright, in 1839. Griffith owned a farm statrting about 1815,and the mill was the first in the township. The original mill burned and this replacement mill was moved from Frazeysburg in Muskingham Co., Ohio.

The Mark family operated the mill from 1911 thru 1946. Berry Run, behind the mill, was never used for water-power, but coal from a coal mine on the hill across the creek from the mill was a source of coal to provide steam. Millers were noted as always wearing white demonstrate cleanliness of processes and products.
