Take either Us 80/Ga Sh 8 or US 280 west of Columbus, Ga. Stay with US 80/Sh 8, after intersection with US 280, another 10-12 miles, turning north on Sh 169. After about 9 miles, turn right/north on Ch 27. Continue about i mile to Meadow Mill community. Ask locally for directions to the mill.

This is the frount of the mill and it was taken about 10 yrs ago. It was a corn mill that operated up to sometime in the 1950's.

The mill was in the process of being renovated into a private dwelling in March 2008. The mill is all mortise & tenon constrution, no metal nails, using hand hewn timbers.

The mill from the upstream side on Halawakee Creek. The Halawakee Creek Covered Bridge, a 140' covered bridge that burned in 1973, used to cross the Halawakee Creek on Tillery Road just upstream from the dam. The bridge was two spans of Town Lattice construction and was under consideration for preservation when it burned.

The headrace comes off a very impressive stonework dam built across the Halawakee.

The lower door in the front of the mill is a Dutch style door.

No doubt the offices of the mill just south of the mill. The sign on the building reads: Meadows Mill, O. H. Story, owner.
