The mill was built in 1788 Michael Rentscheler, his wife and son, John.

The Rentschelers operated the mill for several generations, until selling it to William Cameron. Notice the Georgian style eaves that are prevalent, even including the sack hoist hood.

Upon Cameron's death, it became the property of the Packer family, who leased it to various millers.

It was purchased by Clarence Auten in 1922.

In 1930 Fred I. Johnson purchased the mill. The photo shows the inlet arch in the limestone foundation.

His son, Eugene took over the operation in 1946, a year after its conversion from water power to diesel power, which was used until it closed in 1981.

The mill is still in quite good condition, given that it has largely been unused for milling for tha last 30 years. Still a good candidate for restoration or renovation, and preservation. GPS: 76' 58.35W, 40' 58.25N
